Remember the TV show, Dragnet? “Just the facts, Ma’am.” Writing is not about facts. Writing is about taking the reader on a mental/emotional journey. It’s why facts aren’t stories. It’s why plot should speak to the character’s motivations in a way the reader will relate to. If you can’t do that, at least be funny.

When I wrote Come What May, I fell in love with the unreliable narrator POV. Sam Fisher/Harlan is an unreliable narrator. There are clues to this sprinkled throughout the book. An important step in a writer’s journey is realizing that you are NOT your work. You work can suck, and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that YOU suck. Conversely, you can write an amazing story and be a total shit.
I just finished proofing the audiobook as narrated by the talented David Loving. I think it’s a winner! I also completed the Deal with the Devil manuscript. Now it’s time for the rewerite, then I can get it sent off to my editor and begin the next Project StrikeForce novel.
I’m nearly finished with the first draft of Deal With The Devil. There are so many loose ends. I’ve been planning on wrapping up a lot of little mysteries so that I can start telling even bigger, crazier stories! I’m also finishing up the production of the audiobook for Project StrikeForce. My narrator, Patrick Freeman, is amazing. I got chills listening to it!
